Next New

The future of the mobile phone is always the hottest topic. I think in the future mobile phone could cling to the human body as a tiny chip. Its main energy is from the heat generated by the human body and solar power. Through touching human's body, it could build a connection with our's brain so we can order it to do everything by using our's cerebral consciousness. With this new technology We do not need to read all the news through our eyes but the information will go direct into our brain; we do not need to enter number's or searching on the contact list to look for phone numbers; we do not need to look at google map on the screen but knowing all the detail information in our brain.

P2P

What is file sharing?

File sharing is sharing his computer file with his friends and public. These files type include .DOC, .PPT, .PDF, .TXT, and so on. People usually sharing files using a USB drive, Bluetooth, email and Clouds.

What is P2P File sharing?

P2P ( Peer to Peer) sharing is sharing files using a P2P network, in P2P network environment, all connected computer are in an equal position. Each computer has the same function, there is no primary and secondary difference. Each computer can work as servicer, workstation and set up shared resource for other computers to used within the network.

What are some examples of P2P file sharing?

Some of the examples of P2P file sharing include Napster, Gnutella, eDonkey and eMule. The users can direct download, upload and copy files from any computers that have installed the same software. According to Brian Stelter's article " illegal copies of the Batman movie had been downloaded more than seven million times around the world, according to the media measurement firm BigChampagne turning it into a visible symbol of Hollywood's helplessness against the growing problem of online video piracy. "Although, P2P and other sharing functions have helped us a lot but it also brings up some legal problems. All the P2P sharing software provider still need to work hard on examining all the shared files to determine the legal usage of the file.

Privacy

The coming era of new media has provided our life with the most extensive source of informative. New media help us linked with the world and constitute a large network of the whole world. Under this situation, the worldwide information is getting richer and the world has shrunk into a global village. New media also has its downside, it also brought security risk to our privacy. The most prominent characteristic of the new media era is the old information platform turn into network platform. The Internet is everywhere, however, when we were enjoying all these conveniences that base on new media technologies our's privacy has been spill off and become other people's tools for marking profit. Today, Trojan and hackers have formed a complete industrial chain. There are lots of websites crashed by  embedded trojan virus because of that lots of people lost theirs' bank account and game accounts. Also, some of the hackers steal other people's information on theirs' computer in order to commit more unlawful action in the future. As internet users, we need to have the consciousness of protecting personal information. Creativity and New Media

QQX5 is a 3D dancing game first released by released by Tencent in 2008. I enjoying this game a lot because I really admire at people who knows how to dance. However, I never get a chance to receive any dance training. Things changed after I found out this game. It makes me a good dancer by moving my fingers on the keyboard. In this game you can chatting with your friends, join clans, and marry to the people that you like. Also, you can buy lots of clothes and accessories to dress yourself and your home as well.

Below is a screenshot of my avatar that I created. In this game, you can dress yourself in the way that you would never try in the real life.

CREATIVTY

Everything was once new.  In my point of view, creativity is not only things that come up with none but also came from people's understanding and observation on things that around their life. It just like how people get the idea of airplane from birds. " By the way," he added, "that was a very nice edit job by whoever did the spongeBob mash." These people aware the significant value of the some idea and what they need to do is to find out how to out the needs of the market and make it come true by adding theirs' immigration to the existing things. I think this kind of creativity is more important than the original idea. Because this is a creativity that have input the implementation and find out the value of the creativity and this ability itself is a creativity action. New media has this world a small place where people can sharing and viewing all kind of creativity work around the world. By communicating with all kind of people people can improve and being more creative together.

Modeling Reality With Virtual Worlds

Virtual Worlds is playing a significant role in our life and it can be used in many ways. A good example will be education. "You can use virtual worlds in education, in delivery services, or as an advanced form of tele-healthcare that offers so much more than videoconferencing." Apply virtual world in education is a amazing idea, it has created a self-study environment. Comparing to traditional education, this new education function allows student access all the information that related to course though internet or some other method instead of books and teachers. In this way, student is able to fully use their imagination. the second example is training, "According to Linden Lab, creators of Second Life, more than 1,400 organizations -- including large companies, educational institutions, government agencies and even the U.S. military -- use Second Life to hold meetings, conduct training and prototype new technologies more efficiently.“ Some industry and organization like army, fireworks, and gas always come up with danger training and experiments. Virtual Worlds technology provide trainer a virtual environment that very close reality where they can minimize the risk during the testing and training.

Everything has its downside so virtual worlds. Virtual worlds provide us a better way to learn and getting better train but it also cause many young people  began to indulge in the network world. "Children age 5-15 own at least half of those accounts—they’re using these worlds for entertainment, social connection, and learning." Due to this situation, lots of teenagers has being members of sub health group. Most of them are lack of exercise, healthy diet, and enough sleep. They are addicting to video games and enjoying their second life on line which lost connection with the reality.

I think virtual worlds foster creativity by giving people a space where they can build whatever in theirs mind and communicate with  people who can had a new thoughts that could add to theirs idea. A example will be some App games that allows kids to build their own city with theirs thoughts. In the future, virtual world will provide more helps to human being in more industry.  One  example will including 3D Scanning, with help of 3D Scanning, We will have a better way to solve some problem from industrial design, Medical informatics and Future War.

Social Networking Sites

Social networking sites are involving every day. Today, I am going to talk about 4 well-known Social Networking sites.

Facebook.

  • Facebook is the only site that I go to when I want to catch up with my friends. This site allows me to view my friends' past and present, hobbies, pictures and most importantly their feelings. Everything people post on Facebook can give us a hint of their emotions in that particular moments, this allows me to connect with my friends verbally and spiritually. Facebook truly made this world a smaller place. Unlike Twitter, on Facebook, you need a request to add friends and it is limited to friend base.
Twitter.
  • Twitter is another popular social media site. Each user has a twitter handle which starts an @ to distinguish every user. You can post statuses, pictures, videos, and follow anyone like your friends to keep yourself updated at all times. This is a site also helps you see what is trending around the face of the internet including breaking news and what's going on in the world. Comparing to Facebook, a Twitter user will following people who have the same interest or has any matching thing. I think using Twitter you will have a better view of the world but not limited to a "wall."
Linkedin.
  • LinkedIn is the world's largest professional networking site. It allows users to invites friend and other professional to their connection list. Unlike facebook, LikedIn separates your connections into 3 levels ( first degree, second degree, and third degree), so you can easily find out people that you wish to reach out. LikedIn also separates user by regular and premium which it provides premium a better solution to find jobs and connection. Its feature allows people to view lists of people who have reviewed their profile so you can expand your connection really fast. The Linkedin user always keeps themselves in a professional way so they usually do not share their life experience but resume, education, work experiences.
WeCaht.

Social Net'g

What are some ways (corporate and otherwise) that these technologies can be used?
  • Comparing to traditional ways of social networking, social networking technology provided us a better way in communicating and working with other people. New social networking has overcoming the time and space limitation with the help of internet and new technology. Nicole Ellison a assistant professor of telecommunication information studies and media at Michigan State University indicated that social network sites have benefit  our society and individual by organizing political activities and helping people to look for jobs. A great example will be LinkedIn. Maureen Crawford-Hentz recruits for Osram Sylvania has shared her experience with social networking technology. With social networking technology's help, employer can easily access to candidates' working history and specific skills and vice versa. Different people will use these technology in different ways but in general, these technologies have helped us in all ways.

What are the benefits of these technologies to society?
  • Social networking sites has improve the quality of people's lives and it also affecting the labor market as well. For instance, Some people are afraid of talking in public social networking sites had provided them with difference platform to help them to making friends online and wining others recognition and understanding. As a result, there are more job opportunities have been created. Every social networking sites will need a group of people to run and support. Nowadays, the unemployment rate falls year by year these new technologies have made undeniable contributions.
Is there a "dark side"?
  • Everything has two-sides so these technologies. William Reader a professor of psychology at Sheffield Hallam University has his own point of view on these technologies. He thinks that these technologies help us on contacting with our friends. but in the same time, he also gives his concerns. He claims that social networking technologies will lead to a no face-to-face meeting situation. I agree with his point of view - social networking will never replace face-to-face communication. It is really hard to feel and understood your friends emotion by looking at theirs post and commons online. I think this is a "dark side" because in my opinion, social network technologies has provided us a easy way to communicate but in the same time, we also lose something what we have in our hands.
These technologies might evolve in the future.

  • In the future, these technologies might evolve in a way that provide more benefits. In India, a traffic police used Facebook to catch scofflaw drivers. In my opinion, with the rapid development of network development, we are empowered by these technologies. Everyone will need to take the responsibilities to protect and enhance the safety of our society and these technologies will be the best weapon.
